This is to welcome everyone to our new blog, Mountainous Northern Mainland Southeast Asia. I hope to spend a litttle time working on the layout sometime. We hope to add information on the minority peoples of this region.
China borders this whole region. The minorities of this area live in more than one country as a rule, so in this sense the provinces of Yunnan and Guangxi and to a slightly lesser extent Guizhou province, make up this region.
The central and southern parts of Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam are not really what this area is about. Those are more or less flat lands or flatter lands where the majority populations of these countries reside. This area is the home to the many minorites of Southeast Asia and Southwest China, a very interesting area indeed.
